Former lawyer Brian Dinning sentenced for investment scheme in South Africa

Brian Ray Dinning, who once lived in Suffolk, was sentenced to 12½ in U.S. District Court in Norfolk on Wednesday for what federal prosecutors called a “long-term Ponzi scheme” through which he fraudulently obtained almost $2.25 million from approximately 37 investors and donors. Many victims are residents of Hampton Roads, often from the evangelical Christian and medical professional communities, but they stretch from California to South Africa.
